Leyden High School
Like many larger school districts, East Leyden plays varsity games under the title Leyden High School and is a combination of students from both East Leyden in Franklin Park and West Leyden in Northlake.
East Leyden was the original high school in the district and was opened in 1911. West Leyden opened in 1952 and was originally the Knights. Facing falling enrollments and financial tightening, the schools consolidated their sports’ teams in 1981. I believe, but haven’t confirmed, that East was originally just called Leyden High and the current Eagles team name was its original name too.
